1. Introduction

LocalJobsGh (localjobsgh.com) is operated by Bestian Company Ltd, a company based in Takoradi, Ghana (“we”, “us”). LocalJobsGh connects job seekers with local employers, and customers with skilled artisans, across all 16 regions of Ghana.

This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It applies to our website and any service that links to this policy. We handle personal data in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).

2. Information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the service:

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number, password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form) and the role you choose (job seeker, employer or artisan).
  • Location:the town, city or region you give us, or pick on the site, so we can show jobs and artisans near you. We do not track your device's GPS location.
  • Job applications: the name, phone number, area you live in, education level and cover note you send when you apply for a job. You can apply without an account.
  • Employer details: company name, job descriptions, pay, location and contact phone number for jobs you post.
  • Artisan profiles: your trade, description, town, phone and WhatsApp numbers, prices, profile photo and work photos.
  • Ghana Card (artisans only): photos of the front and back of your Ghana Card, used to verify your identity. See section 4.
  • Reports and feedback: what you tell us when you report a listing or send feedback, including a name and contact details if you choose to give them.
  • Usage data: basic technical information our hosting providers record when you use the site, such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited and the time of your visit. We use it to keep the service secure and working.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • match job seekers with jobs and customers with artisans near them;
  • send your job applications to the employer you applied to;
  • verify artisans' identities before their profiles go live;
  • create and secure your account, including email verification and password resets;
  • send notifications about your account, applications and listings;
  • investigate reports of fake jobs, fraud and misuse, and keep the platform safe;
  • understand how the site is used so we can fix problems and improve it;
  • meet our legal obligations.

We do not use your personal data for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. Ghana Card data

We ask artisans for Ghana Card photos so that customers can trust that the person behind a profile is who they say they are.

  • We collect Ghana Card photos only from artisans and only for identity verification.
  • The photos are stored in private, access-controlled storage that is encrypted at rest. They are never shown on your public profile and can only be viewed by our verification team.
  • We never sell or share Ghana Card data with third parties, other users or advertisers.
  • Once our team has made a verification decision (approved or not approved), the Ghana Card photos are deleted. Your profile keeps only the result, for example a “Verified” badge.

5. How we share your information

  • Employers see the application details you send them (name, phone, area, education and cover note).
  • Customers and visitorssee verified artisans' public profiles, including name, trade, town, photos, prices and the phone or WhatsApp number the artisan chose to show.
  • Job seekers and visitors see the jobs employers post, including company name and location.
  • Service providers who help us run LocalJobsGh, such as our database, storage and hosting provider (Supabase, whose servers for our service are in the European Union) and email providers. They process data only on our instructions and must keep it secure.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it, or when needed to protect people from fraud or harm.

We never sell your personal data.

6. Data security

We protect your data with:

  • encrypted connections (HTTPS) between your device and our site;
